Project 1: A Modern Social Haven

A Family Home Renovation

Welcome to the transformation of a family of four’s home into a modern, family-oriented haven designed for seamless integration of cooking, dining, and living spaces.

Entrance & Front Door

The entrance retains its original charm, flanked by storage cabinets on either side. The newly designed stairs, while preserving the existing structure, now feature built-in storage underneath. The top quarter of the stairs house shelving and a bespoke daybed, creating a cosy reading nook enhanced with wall lighting.

Coat & Boot Room

Adjacent to the entrance is the updated coat and boot room, accessed through a narrow hallway. Featuring a sliding Japanese door, this space includes two wooden and metal coat racks, providing ample storage for coats and footwear. A double-hung window offers natural light and a view of the exterior.

Study & Snug

Accessible via Japanese sliding doors, this multifunctional room is equipped with a large corner desk and a bookshelf, with additional space for relaxation. It includes a double-seated sofa and a media unit, making it an ideal spot for reading, unwinding, or watching TV.

Downstairs Toilet

A new downstairs toilet has been strategically placed towards the back of the house, adjacent to a new entrance with French doors opening to the exterior. The compact design features a tube toilet, a corner wash basin, and wall and free-standing storage for essentials.

Laundry Room

Located towards the back of the house for convenient access to the garden, the laundry room includes a stacked washing machine and dryer, alongside four cubed wall-mounted shelves for laundry essentials. Its proximity to the toilet simplifies plumbing and water access.

Kitchen Area

The kitchen has been redesigned for efficiency and light, with Japanese sliding doors leading to the garden and a double-hung window above the sink. An island bar serves as both a preparation and serving space. The kitchen is well-equipped with a dishwasher, a large fridge freezer, a double oven, hob, and hood, plus ample storage.

Dining Area

Adjacent to the kitchen, the dining area features a six-seater table, perfect for family meals and entertaining. Positioned near the external Japanese doors, it provides access to an alfresco dining balcony and enhances the open-plan layout with additional natural light.

Living Area

At the front of the open-plan space, the living area boasts a large L-shaped sofa, ideal for lounging. A low dining storage unit, a movable side table, and a footstool with hidden storage add functionality. The space also includes a cushioned storage bench under a double-hung window and a media unit with shelving. Japanese sliding doors further extend the living space outdoors, blending interior comfort with the enjoyment of the exterior environment.
